Speaking to Deccan Herald, the girl said she had come out of her hostel  to make a phone call to her parents.  Autorickshaw driver, Sanjeev Hosamani offered to give her a lift, but took her to an isolated place. There, he and two of his friends raped her, she alleged. The auto driver admitted her to a government hospital.  Pretending to be a good Samaritan, he told the hospital staff he found the girl in a bad condition. The girl could not contradict his version as she was in a state of shock. However, police arrested the auto driver on suspicion.
Hostel superintendent M S Bhise was not there when the girl left the hostel. It is said the officer returned to the hostel after the incident.

A N Patil, the in-charge CEO of Bijapur ZP, suspended her.
It may be recalled a woman had died following an acid attack on May 18 this year.
