Ajay Patil bagged the under-16 boys’ singles title in the East Cultural Association’s State-ranking badminton tournament with a thumping win over familiar foe Vinay Hari at the ECA courts here on Tuesday.
The Dharwad boy coasted to a straight games victory — 21-16, 21-16 — in the final.
In the corresponding girls event, Jacqueline R Kunnath continued her good showing in the season with another triumph.
Jacqueline however had to fight hard for the 21-14, 9-21, 21-14 win over Uttara Prakash.
In the under-13 boys final, Shiv Nayak posted a hard-fought win over Siddarth S to clinch the title. Shiv, who won the first game 21-16, dropped the next 20-22 before pocketing the third 21-18.
Later, he partnered Siddarth to win the doubles title beating Sudeep Suresh and K V Rakshith.
