Many elder citizens in he taluk had to wait for a long time in front of the State Bank of Mysore branch office in Malur as there was no stock of the Rs 20 stamp paper in the bank to avail the benefits of Sandhya Suraksha Scheme for people above 65 years.
Although MLA S N Krishnaiah Shetty had made arrangements to identify the deserved beneficiaries under the scheme soon after the implementation of the scheme by calling an official meeting on Sunday which had attained a great popularity in the taluk, his attempts went futile.
After the implementation of the scheme by the state government, one could see glitters in the eyes of the elder citizens as they hoped to have little money to spend it on their daily petty expenses and were busy arranging the necessary documents.
It is very necessary to submit an affidavit to the Notary in Rs 20 stamp paper along with the other records. The major problem was here, as there was only in the State Bank of Mysore branch that people could get stamp papers and nowhere else.
Already the bank has enough of the customers who demand stamp papers of thousands of rupees everyday, bearing the arrogance of the bank staff and on Wednesday it went worse.
The elder citizens had to suffer a lot after there were no stocks of Rs 20 stamp papers in the bank. They were seen to be short of Rs 30 also to get Rs 50 stamp paper who had already spent Rs 400 to Rs 500 to submit all the details under the scheme. It is high time, the voluntary organisations come forward to help the elder citizens and also the elected representatives, so that they can get the benefits of the scheme as early as possible.
