DC takes ignorant officials to task
DH News Service, Shidlaghatta:

Block Education Officer was found who did not know about the conditions of schools, the supervisor of the women and child welfare department who did not know the name of the deputy commissioner, and the Akshara Dasoha assistant director with no knowledge about his field...and many more officials who did not have necessary information about their works, all were taken to task by the deputy commissioner during a meeting held in Shidlaghatta.

Deputy Commissioner Subhod Yadav presided over the special meeting called here on Tuesday, in the taluk panchayat premises.

He was annoyed to find out that the officials did not have information about their own departments. He chided the ignorant officials throughout the meeting.

Block Education Officer Hanumantappa failed to give the total number of schools in the taluk and also did not have any idea about how many of these schools have kitchen.

When he could not tell the deputy commissioner about single-teacher schools, the latter said, “ if you yourself don’t know maths, how will you teach students?”

“The meeting is held to analyse the present state of development in the taluk and to chalk out further plans for progress in future. If you don’t know the present state, why do you attend the meeting?” the angry officer told the officials.

When Assistant Director S V Nagaraja Rao said that the Akshara Dasoha scheme was extended to 252 schools, Mr Yadav asked whom should he believe, whether the information given by the BEO or that by Nagaraj.
He criticised them saying they should first have a meeting between themselves and confirm the total number of schools in the taluk before attending the meeting.

The meeting was hilarious when the deputy commissioner, annoyed by the ignorance of the women and children welfare department supervisor Laxmidevamma, asked if she knew at least who was deputy commissioner and what was his name. Pat came the reply: No!

Laxmidevamma had attended the meeting as the officer of the department was absent. Yadav served a notice on the official to take leave with loss of pay.

Bescom official Lalita, Small scale industries officer Shajiya, Town Municipality officer Nagaraju, ZP assistant engineer Chandrappa, PWD Engineer Malleshappa were spared from chiding.

The very purpose of the meeting was not served due to failure of these officials to provide adequate information about their respective departments.
