“Literacy is a guiding force behind the removal of social evils and building a healthy society,” said Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao. Speaking at the 41st World Literacy Day organised by the Prajna Counselling Centre, Capart, Jana Shikshana Trust, Jilla Navasaksharara Abhivridhi Samithi and Apna Desh, he said district administration will provide all support to the cause of literacy in the district.
It was pledged to declare 52 villages in the district as cent per cent literacy villages within 3 months. Prajna Counselling Centre Director Prof Hilda Rayappan, AIR Programme Producer Shyam Bhat, also spoke.
