EVENTS IN THE CITY

Activity workshop
UAS is slated to conduct a programme at its Kidzee centre called First Touch, wherein the participants will get an opportunity to go through a marathon workshop and will be able to get the feel of different forms of art all under one roof. These sessions are free and are spread over Sunday, September 16. This shall be a precursor to kick start the workshop at the Kidzee center. 

In this workshop they are featuring dance, fine arts and theatre. The session is open for people from the age group of eight to 16 to experience, in a small and subtle way.

Punjabi entertainment
Punjabi Sabha, a charitable NGO consisting of "Punjabi Kannadigas", most of them second generation Punjabis born, educated and brought up in Bangalore, is hosting a mega event Chak De featuring live performances by the renowned Punjabi pop singer Mika Singh and Bhagwanth Mann, star of the Great Indian Laughter Challenge show on September 16 at Kalinga Hall, Hotel Grand Ashok . 

The performances will be accompanied by dancers and the Emcee for the event will be Shona from Mumbai. The donor tickets priced at Rs 1250 and Rs 750 are available at Music World, Casapicola (Residency Road and Indiranagar), Java City (Lavelle Road and Church Street), Showoff ( Brigade Road) and Tandoor Restaurant (MG Road).

Saree, handicraft expo
Navodai is holding its next exhibitions on Sept 10 to 16 at V R Plaza near Alice jewellery (off Commercial Street). Regular and new exhibitors from Kolkata boutiques with sarees and handicrafts were participating in the exhibition. Upakarma ceremony
Samaveda Upakarma Congregation will be conducted at Seetharama Mandir, 23/11, Gangadhar Chetty Road, Bangalore-560042 (Next to RBANMS School, Near Ulsoor Lake and Odukathoor Mutt) on 13 Sept 2007 (Thursday)  at 10 am by Sri A V Somanatha Deekshithar, Retired Professor of Samaveda, Govt. Traditional festive meal
Hallimane, rural restaurant, located on 3rd Cross, Sampige Road, Malleswaram is organising a traditional festive meal on September 14 and 15 from 12 noon to 3.30 pm and 7 pm to 10.30 pm on both days.
The traditional fare includes maize-pomegranate kosambari, Sweet pumpkin chutney, kadbu wrapped in turmeric leaf, yam chutney, date payasa, pathrode among other items. The meal is priced at Rs 90 for adults, Rs 45 for children and Rs 100 for parcel. For details call 99457-61283 or 41139523.

Tourism, hospitality meet
AIMS (Acharya Institute of Management and Sciences) in association with ITC Windsor is organising a seminar on Sustainable Eco Initiative in Tourism and Hospitality   September 17 and 18 from 9.30 am to 5.30 am at the Conference Hall of AIMS, Peenya, Bangalore.

The programme will be inuagurated by Vittalamurthy, Secretary, Department of  Kannada and Cultural Information & Tourism, on September 17. 

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Russel Arthur Smith, Vice Dean of Cornell University.
