Gift vouchers for retail purchase are commonplace in the metros, thanks to the glitzy corporate world.
Now a leading economic think tank says similar vouchers for health check-up, if introduced, may improve the economic productivity of the corporation. 
With the objective of improving employees’ health, employers can issue vouchers which can be redeemed at their convenience for health check-up or other means like hitting a gym, the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) has suggested.
As companies cannot afford employees’ absence, health vouchers make economic sense, they feel.
Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss released the ICRIER study here on Wednesday.
