Army Service Corps opened their account in the BDFA Super Division football league after holding Sports Authority of India to a dull goalless draw at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Wednesday.
Coming after two losses to MEG and BEL, the draw came as a relief to ASC. However, their performance was far from impressive. SAI, though, could not exploit the situation, hit by the exodus of some key players to different clubs during the transfer period.
ASC came close to scoring in the seventh minute itself when Santosh Kumar found the woodwork with a powerful rightfooter from the edge of the box on the left.
That was the closest either team managed to come in the whole match.
Except some flashy runs down the left flank by winger Madhukara N and some moves charted by midfielder Thamodaran, SAI couldn’t make any impact on the rival defence.
After the change of ends, ASC relied more on longrangers but their efforts lacked power and direction. ASC sensed a chance in the 60th minute when I Choudhury sent in a cross but Rajubiswasa’s glancing header went wide.
SAI, with two draws, one loss and a win, have five points from four matches.
