INTERNATIONAL
CRICKET:
India begin their campaign in the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup with a clash against lowly Scotland at Durban on Thursday. They complete their Group D league engagements against Pakistan the following day, also at Durban. The other group matches are being played Johannesburg and Cape Town. The Super Eight stage of the 14-day bash will begin on Sunday.

TENNIS: The Fed Cup final between Italy and Russia will be played in Moscow over the weekend. With Svetlana Kuznetsova, the US Open runner-up, and Anna Chakavetadze in their ranks, Russia start favourites in the title clash.

Slovakian beauty Daniela Hantuchova, besides India's Sania Mirza, if fit, will be the two biggest draws in the Sunfeast Open gets under way in Kolkata on Monday (September 17).

The WTA China Open too kicks-off on the same day in Beijing.

GOLF: The PGA Tour Championship tees-off in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday, while the European Tour's Mercedes-Benz Championship begins at Cologne on the same day.

MOTOR SPORT: Ferrari will be looking to put behind their home failure when the Formula One bandwagon moves to Spa Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday.

ATHLETICS: The IAAF Van Damme Memorial will be held at Brussels on Friday, followed by the ISTAF event at Berlin on Sunday.

NATIONAL
FOOTBALL: The Federation Cup finale is scheduled to be held on at Ludhiana on Saturday.

AQUATICS: The National championships get cracking at the Campal Swimming Pool at Panjim on Wednesday.

LOCAL/ STATE
FOOTBALL: The Super Division and 'A' Division BDFA league continues at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

HOCKEY: The Tier I of the Super Division league begins at the KSHA stadium on Thursday (Sept 13).
