A tug from Smith International is likely to reach Mangalore by Thursday morning and the some cargo may be shifted to bring the ship to normal position. In fact, the Salvage team from Singapore have been working for the past five days to bring back the ship to normal position which was listed 15 degrees due to faulty loading.
On Wednesday, a balance was struck by shifting the ore loan from one side to another using a excavator. With this operation, the ship reverted to 3 degrees from 15 degrees.
Obstacles
All the plans will materialise if the weather remains favourable throughout Thursday. If needed, required machineries such as high capacity pumps, Sand Jet and others have been kept ready at the spot, sources said.
After the ship is pulled to the deep sea, its stability, possibility of sailing, capacity and other factors will be studied.
Later cargo and sailors requirements will be fulfiled before the ship is set on sail.
