On the fourth day, Thursday, 23 nominations were received for seven urban local bodies while not a single nomination paper was received from the remaining five ULBs. The total number of nominations received so far has gone up to 24.
For the Gulbarga city municipal corporation nine nomination papers were filed. Prominent aspirant to file nomination papers on Thursday was Arunkumar Oza, an independent candidate. Oza is seeking election for the third time from ward number 31.
The nominations received for other urban local bodies on Thursday are: Yadgir-2, Chittapur-1, Sedam-4, Shahapur-5, Surapur-1, and Gurmitkal-1.
Although September 17 is the last day for filing nomination papers actually two days are remaining as September 15 is a holiday on account of Ganesha festival and September 16 is Sunday.
Janata Party has decided to field its candidates for 10 wards in Gulbarga city municipal corporation according to party’s district president Yeshvant Hattarki. Four candidates have already been selected while the remaining six will be selected shortly.
Permission needed for posters, banners: Commissioner
Gulbarga, DHNS: Gulbarga city municipal corporation commissioner Nagappa Sirasigi has said that it was mandatory for political parties to seek prior permission before putting up banners, cutouts, flags, posters, and other canvassing materials. Permission was necessary to write on walls within corporation limits as per the rules of the election code of conduct. The Commissioner said that code of conduct was in vogue from September 4 to October 3. He has asked parties, candidates and members of public to strictly adhere to the election code of conduct for smooth and peaceful elections.
