Schools, colleges and organisations from Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary districts will participate in the workshop. The workshop is being organised as a prelude to the implementation of the awareness campaign on various aspects of environment and ecology.
Parishat’s Executive Council member H C Patil said workshop’s theme is ‘Conservation of Bio-diversity’.
Special lectures on the issue by experts will be held at the workshop and participants will also be trained in preparing proposals for the implementation of environment protection schemes.
The union ministry for forest and environment has decided to launch a nationwide mass awareness campaign on environment protection. The KRVP will hold workshops in all the four divisions of the State. The ministry is offering assistance ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 for specific proposals on environment protection.
One of the main objectives of the workshop is to sensitise non-governmental organisations to prepare specific proposals for effective implementation with monetary assistance from the centre.
