Painting is an integral part of fine arts. An observer gets a feel of the art while watching a drawing or painting.
Thus, those who view the painting should have acquired the art of appreciation, while the artiste should have skill for painting, said Govind Das College Kannada Department lecturer Krishnamoorthi P.
Speaking at the inaugural function of Ganesha painting exhibition organised by Ravishree Art Promotion Foundation at Vidyadayini Complex in Kulai on Sunday, he said the significance of art can be understood only by those who know to appreciate art. Students must be encouraged to draw and paint, he advised.
Karavali Group of Institutions Chairman Ganesh Rao said artistes must have self-confidence. If art is given its place, its commercial viability also increases. There are immense opportunities for artistes in the present globalised era. Artistes must make use of the opportunities, he suggested.
Artist Geetha Bhaskar Achar inaugurated the exhibition. Rotary Club President Prasiddha P, MCC former member Naveen Chandra Devadiga and Foundation President S Ramesh Hebbar were present.
