DH News Service, Chikmagalur:

JD(S) District President H T Rajendra has informed that 50 per cent of the list of local candidates for the local body elections is ready and will be completed by September 16.

Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Mr Rajendra said that JD(S) will keep both Congress and BJP at a distance while the decision of forming alliance with any other party is left upto the regional committee.

MLC Y S V Datta has been appointed as the election observer while MLA S L Dharme Gowda will head the Publicity Committee and Disciple Committee will be headed by Mr Balakrishne Gowda.

Mr Balakrishne Gowda has also been appointed as the Chikmagalur constituency Committee observer, while M P Jagannath has been appointed as observer of Shringeri, H H Devaraj fir Kadoor, Venkatesh for Birur, Padma Thimmegowda for Tharikere and Muktiyar Mohommed for Mudigere.

He said that the party will seek votes by speaking about the failures of Congress and achievements of coalition government. CM’s Grama Vasthavya, Janatha Darshana, construction of mini Vidhana Soudha at Belgaum are some of the achievements that will prove out to be blessing for JD(S).

“Though JD(S) made an alliance with BJP under inevitable circumstances, it has maintained its secular policy and has worked for the betterment of the backward community members”, he added stating that BJP MLAs have been a utter failure in the coalition government.

Enquiry sought
JD(S) District General Secretary H H Devaraj has demanded for a enquiry into assets of former MLA Sagir Ahmed and MLA C T Ravi.

He said that Mr Sagir Ahmed who was the MLA since last 15 years and C T Ravi who came to power three years ago have nurtured corruption. Hence, their illegal assets must be made public.
