The Taruve Gram Panchayat has resolved to urge the government to declare the area under the GP limits as calamity affected area.
Informing this to media here on Wednesday, GP President Kalyani said the villagers had been experiencing much loss due to heavy rains and gusty winds, hence the Panchayat had taken a decision in their favour.
Accompanied by villagers, she submitted a memorandum to the tahsildar which conveyed the Panchayat’s resolutions. Ms Kalyani said Attigere Binnadi, Bodebail and Taruve villages are receiving 350-400 inch rain in an year.
Crops like pady, cardamom,chilly, coffee and areca have been totally ruined due to excessive rains, and hence the government should announce the GP limits as calamity affected and release compensation to the growers, she urged.
