Reality shows in television has taken India by storm. Perhaps, for the Bangaloreans the buzz is not these reality shows in television but ‘Gili-Voice of Bangalore 2007’, a one-of-a-kind live talent hunt show put up by Garuda Mall in association with Radio City.
Even though there are lots of reality shows in television opportunities have been very few for talents from south to showcase their talents in a big way. Garuda Mall has become a role-model by giving such a platform for young and fresh talents from Bangalore to establish themselves to the stardom.
“This kind of a show is put up for the first time in south india. Garuda Mall is the first mall to organise such an event. If we check most of the participants auditioned in the contestant are either student or employees and we have given them a good platform to bring out their hidden talents.”says Garuda Mall MD Uday.
“ Our main aim is to entertain the people coming inside the mall. In television reality shows people don't get the opportunity to witness the event but this mega event is open for everyone.” , he adds.
So far in most of the reality musical shows, like Indian Idol, no girl participant could reach the finals but the decision to take one male contestant and one female contestant as the winners of ‘Voice of Bangalore’ makes this live show unique and special. During the 9 weeks of auditioning, commenced from July 26, more than 5000 participants were auditioned from the auditions at the Garuda Mall, ITPL, WIPRO (Electronic City campus), National College and M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology.
Out of these 5000 plus participants the best 17 singers were moved on to the semi-finals and from that again 6 finalist were selected for the grand finals by a panel of judges, which is going to be held on 14 September at 6pm.

The grand final has three rounds and starts on with a compulsory Kannada song round, where each of the finalist will sing a Kannada song. Apart from the ‘Voice of Bangalore’ title Radio City has organised another award called ‘Listeners choice Award’, which will be given to the contestant who gets maximum votes from the listeners of Radio City.
