Who says watching movies doesn’t pay? Hindi cinema buffs could win up to Rs 50 lakh as prize money on “Bollywood Ka Boss”, the country’s first film-based quiz show.
Popular actor and comedian Boman Irani will anchor the show, scheduled to go on air by December-end on Filmy, Sahara One’s movie channel.
Announcing the launch of the show here on Wednesday night, Synergy Adlabs chairman Siddhartha Basu, who is producing the show, said “Bollywood Ka Boss” will cater to a movie-crazy country where there is a massive fascination and knowledge about all that is part of the tinsel town.
The quiz show will be a national contest open to all, and will establish and celebrate people who know the most about the subject, he said. “The selection process is transparent and the format is originally developed by us,” Basu said.
Having Irani, who is not only an outstanding entertainer but also a huge Hindi film buff as the anchor will make the show more exciting and entertaining, he noted.
Irani said the show was “the best thing that could have happened to a country which eats, sleeps and drinks movies”.
Describing himself as a Bollywood fan first, Irani said if there ever was a show that would have excited him to take to television, it had to be something like “Bollywood Ka Boss”.
The initial screening rounds for contestants will begin with a SMS contest and participants who clear the first hurdle will have to sit for a written test. Following this, 240 contestants will take part in the competition.
