NABARD grants State Rs 450 cr

National Bank for Rural Development (NABARD) has agreed to release Rs 450 crore for construction of buildings and infrastructure facilities for schools and colleges in rural areas of Karnataka, Publi Works Department minister H D Revanna said on Thursday.


Speaking to press persons after cabinet sub-committee meeting in Bangalore, Mr Revanna said the Bank will be releasing Rs 225 crore for construction of High Schools, Rs 125 crore for PU colleges and Rs 100 crore for First Grade colleges.
Action plan for the construction of buildings will be prepared within a month and it will be sent for approval from the Bank. Work will begin in next four months, he said.
The minister said that government will take assistance of NABARD for providing basic infrastructure for ITI and diploma colleges in rural areas in the coming days. H e said chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has appealed to the Centre to release one lakh ton of food grain for victims of heavy rains in the state.
