Teachers demand grants

Karnataka State School College Teachers, Employees and Management Federation on Thursday urged the State Government to provide grants for private schools and colleges.


Federation State President C H Gowdar said the government has to give grants to the private institutions who have completed seven years. “The cabinet has decided to give grants for the educational institutions which was set up between June 1987 to July 1993. But we don’t want the government to give preference to the time bond instead provide grants to institutions, which completed have completed seven years,” he said.
Mr Gowdar that the government has not provided salary for the group-D employees. “The watchmen,  attenders and others group-D employees of the educational institution have not got their salaries for last 20 years. And, we want the government to provide salary to them immediately,” he said.
A state-level convention would be held at Legislature’s Home on September 19 to discuss various issues of the teachers and managements.
