A candidate who had filed nomination to a ward of Chikkaballapur CMC for ULB polls as per government’s September 3 corrigendum to reservation notification, moved a division Bench of the High Court.
Candidate K M Venkatesh challenged Wednesday’s single judge order which stayed the corrigendum.
The Bench, comprising Justice K Shreedhar Rao and Justice L Narayana Swamy, also asked the government to put forth the reasons for issuing such a corrigendum. The court scheduled the hearing to Friday while ordering notice to State Election Commission and directing government counsel to produce concerned records.
During the hearing, taking note of newspaper reports, the division Bench wondered as to how the single judge could have directed the elections as per final reservation notification and ignoring the corrigenda with respect to all 60 wards facing corrigenda, when the petitions before him related only to four such wards.
