While Pavarotti’s second wife Nicoletta Mantovani will receive a quarter of his 250-million-pound fortune, his four daughters will share half of his estate, The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday, quoting the opera singer’s notary Luciano Buonanno. The remaining quarter of Pavarotti’s estate would be considered as ‘available’ for the executor of the will “to do whatever he saw fit with”, Buonanno said.
The singer’s will, which was drawn up on July 29, has been the subject of speculation since Pavarotti’s death last week. Recent reports in the Italian media had suggested that the tenor might have altered his will in his final days in order to favour all his daughters over Mantovani. However, Buonanno dismissed the rumours. He said the will would not be executed in a hurry. “The period of mourning is still going on, and there is too much media interest. However, the recipients of the estate are people who have the means to proceed with their lives regardless.”
Buonanno said he had the will in his office safe where it would remain unless an heir demands its publication. He said the public should stop speculating about its contents.
