Urging the State government to drop the privatisation plans of Akshara Dasoha scheme, the members of Karnataka Rajya Akshara Dasoha Bisiyuta Tayarakara Federation staged a protest in the City on Wednesday. They held a jatha from General Timmaiah Circle to the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
They also urged for minimum wages for the bisiyuta workers, and for proper compensation if some untoward incident happens due to cylinder or cooker blast. The remuneration should be remitted to the bank accounts of the workers through cheques, and they should be given additional leave of 10 days with salary, they pressed.
Federation district head H N Yogeshkumar, Vice-President Janaki, Jaji, Bhageerathi led the protest.
