Kushalnagar, DHNS:

Jnanapeeth awardee Da Ra Bendre was an eminent Kannada poet and he had shed light on Navodaya literature, said district Kannada Sahitya Parishat President T P Ramesh.
Speaking after inaugurating the endowment lecture on the lifetime works of litterateur Da Ra Bendre, ‘Nenapu’ and Kannada light music competition ‘Ninada’ organised under the aegis of Kushalnagar hobli unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Thursday, he said village life and folk elements are ubiquitous in the poems written by Da Ra Bendre. The KSP has taken the initiative of organising commemoration programmes of great litterateurs to hand down the rich literary works to the next generation, Mr Ramesh added.
Writer Dr G Krishnappa from Bangalore said Da Ra Bendre was a great poet of the world. He upheld the lives of villagers through his works. He has dealt with themes like ego, life and death.
On the occasion, a competition on poetry writing and singing on Da Ra Bendre, ‘Ninada’ was organised for school and college students was organised. Prithviraj won the prize for best poem while Shreeja won the prize in singing competition.
