The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has received a good response to the mobile tankers introduced for immersion of Ganesha idols, in an attempt to have an environment-friendly festival spirit in the city on Saturday. The 3 vehicles that were deployed from Metagalli, Yadavagiri and Kuvempunagar at 4:30 pm, that did rounds of certain locations in the city finally culminating at Kukkarahalli lake, Karanjikere and Lingambudhi lake at around 11 pm, saw more than 100 ganeshas being immersed in the facility provided in the city. People were also prohibited from immersing the idols in the lakes according to an order passed by the District Environment Protection Authority and the KSPCB. The tankers will continue to ply across these same areas on September 17, 19 and 23, so as to stop the immersion and pollution of lakes completely.
