READER'S OPINION :
Rains and the City...
Shainu Mohan

Saifuddin, a book-seller: Most of the roads in Bangalore are good but the real problem arises only when it rains. Travelling is generally a big problem and it is really difficult for the people who stays in the footpath or in slum areas. The real problems of these poor infrastructure facilities are faced by such people who earn their living from footpath.  The authorities are very slow in dealing with these issues and they are least bothered about the problems faced by us. The muncipal corporation should speed up in executing their plans.

Binu M, Advocate: I reside in Ejipura. Despite being a place that’s situated close to the city, it is more like a rural area. The roads and drainage system is so bad that when it rains the road will be completely submerged in water leading to plenty of potholes.  Even walking is dangerous. All this shows the inefficiency of the Corporation.  They will be digging and creating potholes in roads in the name of renovation.  Instead of finishing up the work fast they prolong the work and cause traffic jams and accidents.

Jagdish Bapat, HR Consultant: There are lots of low lying areas in Bangalore and during rains all the roads in this area are under water.   All the new roads in the city are well made but still number workers in Corporation is very less.  There is a need of more man power to solve these problems likewise more traffic police should be appointed to control the traffic.  So I would strongly recommend the Corporation authorities to give more care to the roads in these low lying areas.

Royal Ojha, Technical Consultant: I stay in BTM Layout and the conditions of the roads in that area is  really bad. The authorities are not paying any attention to the pathetic situation. Whenever it rains the roads are completely immersed in water. There is a lot of work that needs to  be done in terms of infrastructure. Traffic is also a major problem for the people residing in that area. Because of the traffic it takes hours to reach even short distances. Due to bad condition of the roads, the possibility of accidents are also high.
