Block Congress president K V Naveen Kiran has resigned from his post in protest against the denial of form Bto loyal party workers for the City municipal elections.
He made this announcement at a press conference on Monday. “ Despite have worked incessantly for the upliftment of the Congress party for all these years, my supporters have been denied tickets to the elections. I cannot continue in position without the continued backing of my supporters and therefore I have resigned.” said the disgruntled leader.
In a veiled attack on the legislator and his supporters, Naveen Kiran also added that some of the congress leaders were trying to trample on the powerful lobby of the Balajigas and Muslims.
The KPCCI had shortlisted a list of candidates for the 31 wards that it will contest, on Sunday. The Block president had even signed the list but a last minute change ensured that none of his supporters had been given a ticket. Terming this as deceit, the leader added that he had even refused the B form given to him by the party to contest the elections.
“I will plan my next move after discussion with my well wishers and my seniors.” he added.
Former vice president of City municipality B A Lokesh Kumar also spoke on the occasion and added that the people who were involved in anti-party activities were given tickets for the election but loyal party workers had been over looked.
He also charged that deliberate attempts were being made to trample him in the political arena and these people were also trying to dent the charisma of the Congress party.
Former President of the town municipality Mohammed Iqbal charged the congress leadership for have cheated long serving party workers. Block Congress general secretary Khodays Venkatesh, Srinivas, K M Nagaraj, Mahesh and others were present on the occasion.
