Srinivas Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) MBA department is all set to host a national PG-level inter-collegiate management fest, MAGMA-2007 on September 22, informed SIMS Principal Dr P S Aithal.
Speaking at a press meet here on Tuesday, he said the institute has been organising MAGMA for the past six years. This year, the theme of the event is ‘India as a Green Economy’. Green economics means harmonising human activities with the processes of nature. Students at the institute hope that through this event, they will be able to raise awareness regarding environment to strive for an inclusive growth. Mangalore Special Economic Zone Chief Operating Officer A G Pai will be the chief guest. MAGMA-2007 has been designed to test those managerial skills, indispensable for the new age managers. Games like team building will test the skills of working in teams and communication skills. There will also be a role play and a presentation two days in advance. The college expects more than 15 teams from all over India including Hubli, Goa, Coimbatore and Kannur. MAGMA is not restricted to only MBA, it is an event for PG courses including MCA, MSW and PGDBM. The people behind the event are faculty in-charge Niveditha Mirajkar, MAGMA Co-ordinator R Shrijith and Student Council President Vikyath Shetty, he added.
