“Vachana Sahitya should be part of school-college syllabus, so that it will reach the commonman,” said District-in-Charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty.
Speaking at the ‘arivina mahaamaneya anubhava sangama’ and valedictory f ‘Vachana sangeetha samavesha,’ he said Sharana’s gave the rich tradition of Vachana to the people in 12th century. It should be a guiding force for the younger generation. Such Vachana should be introduced in schools and colleges. Tourism department Director C Somashekar said Basavanna propagated empowerment and equality to women in the ninth century itself.
Vachana’s were not written in praise of others. But it included the happiness and sorrows of day-today life.
