ELECTION SCENE HOTTING UP
Tremor in JD(S) party
Tumkur, dhns:

Even as the political activity in the district is hotting up, the picture of the local body election is becoming clearer by the day.

The major political parties are gearing up for the elections. The Congress and the BJP leaders are taking care to see that there is not much confusion.  But the JD (S) which has the maximum number of legislators has some confusions, said a few party workers. The simmering discontent in the party came to the fore on the final day of nominations or the local body election on Monday.  Even though there was some discontent among the aspirants in both the Congress and BJP, it was not to the extent seen in JD (S).

The main reason for this was the upset victory of the Congress in the Zilla Panchayat elections held on Monday. In the developments after both the president and the vice president’s post to the Zilla Panchayat was won by Congress in the lottery draw of lots, the JD (S) though had a majority had to suffer a defeat. This has led to some major political developments.

According to reliable sources, with the countdown having begun for the local body election, the JD (S) with the unexpected turn of events is learnt to have taken back the ‘B’ form from four of the aspirants. Though the party is not talking about the development openly, the sources said that in private the discussions are going on. Now what needs to be seen is in the coming days is whether those from whom the B form has been taken back will take it lying down. A few of the party workers were heard commenting, “At this stage it is not right on the part of the people’s representatives to turn their back on one another.”
