The nominations filed for Tumkur, Tiptur and Sira CMC and for the local body polls were scrutinised on Tuesday.
As many as four nominations have been rejected out of 281 nominations according to sources. After the scrutiny of nominations there are chances for the official candidates to withdraw the nominations by September 20.
After September 20, the election activities are expected to increase, which is evident with the hive of activities of various political parties now itself.
Whereas, on Monday, the process of filing the nominations for the local body election in Tumkur, Sira and Tiptur. Around 281 nominations were filed for Tumkur City Municipality election and 1883 nominations were filed for the total 234 wards, said Election officers.
Nominations-For Sira city municipality 230 seats, 270 seats for Tiptur, Koratagere town panchayat 112 seats, Chikkanayakanahalli town panchayat 99 seats, Madhugiri 244 seats, Gubbi 81seats, Kunigal 379 seats, Turuvekere 62 seats, Pavagada 120 seats.
Congress party’s 623 candidates, BJP’s 269, Janatadal’s 409 , BSP’s 24 have filed the nominations. CPI’s 2 candidates and CPM’s 10 have filed nominations. JD(U)’s 11 and Samajvadi party’s 10 candidates and 525 independent candidates have also filed nominations.
The last date for withdrawing the nominations is September 20. The election will be held on September 28.
As September 18 was the last date for filing the nominations, people had thronged the election office on Monday. Sira and Tiptur have become City Municipality along with Tumkur in the current election.
Tumkur has 35 wards where as Tiptur and Sira have 31 wards each.
