Education is a system which can bring in hope, confidence and civilise the Society, thereby contributing to the progress of the country, said Principal of Sir M Visweswaraiah Engineering College Dr Veeresh K Basalahalli.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Engineer’s day and Teachers day which was celebrated at Sridevi Engineering College in Tumkur recently.
There is a wrong conception in our society that as technology develops, employment opportunities decrease, whereas on the other hand it actually increases job opportunities, he opined.
Only 15 percent of the fresh engineering graduates are able to work in Information technology organisations today out of the thousands of Engineers who come out of the Engineering colleges every year, he added.
It is very important for students from Engineering stream to develop their technical knowledge, he stated.
Professor S R Devaprakash who delivered the key note address on the occasion remembered the services of Dr Radhakrishnan and Sir M Vishweshwaraiah.
Sridevi Educational Institution Chief Dr M R Hulinaikar stressed the role of teachers in building the personality of students and also the importance of education.
Principal Dr H V S Raghavan, Vice principal Professor P M Chandrashekaraiah, teaching faculty, students and others were also present on the occasion.
