Two persons electrocuted
Tumkur, dhns: Two persons were electrocuted in two separate incidents in the district on Monday.
Several trees and electric poles were also reported to have been uprooted due to heavy rain and strong wind.
In Siddapura village of Madhugiri taluk, a 14-year-old boy Krishnamurthy was electrocuted when he stepped on a live wire that had fallen in a field.
Raju (54) also met the same fate when a power line fell on him during his walk on Maralur Dinne on the outskirts of Tumkur city.
Eight gamblers arrested
Tiptur, dhns: The Tiptur police have arrested eight persons for playing cards and have recovered cash from them.
City police inspector S S Patil got a definite clue that six people from the town and two persons from Mysore had indulged in gambling at Sri Balaji lodge in the city on Ganesha festival day.
S S Patil along with his staff raided room number 209 in the lodge.
The police also recovered Rs 11,560 and arrested the eight accused involved in gambling.
Sub inspector Prabhakar, constables Siddaramaiah, Nandeesh, Bheemaiah, Gangaraj and Narasegowda participated in the raid.
Lodge manager Renuka has been arrested for questioning.
