Reform Judicial System: Nehru
New Delhi, September 18


Prime Minister Nehru today urged for reform in the system of judicial administration in the country so as to eliminate delays and make the administration of justice effective and speedy.

Courts and judges, he said should not function “in ivory tower” and laws should be interpreted in a way which would bring out “an understanding of the social forces of the day.” Such an interpretation would make things smoother in a changing world while a reverse interpretation would only compel the enactment of new laws to bring out the social purpose.

‘Four-Stage Rocket Launch’
Baltimore, Sept 18

The US Air Force announced today it will fire a four-stage rocket from a balloon-supported platform 100,000 feet above the earth later this month.

The rocket shot is the second phase of an air force research project.

Neutrals’ Summit  In Delhi

New Delhi, Sept. 18.


New Delhi is now the official venue of the seventh non-aligned summit.

An External Affairs Ministry’s spokesman confirmed today that Cuba President Fidel Castro had addressed a letter to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi requesting New Delhi to play the host. Mr Castro, who is Chairman of the Non-aligned Movement has said he had found the consensus on the venue favoured India. He said the response to his circular to the non-aligned countries on an alternate venue has been unanimously favourable to Delhi.”
