Amarjeet stuns Renjith
Bhopal:

Amarjeet Singh of Jharkhand edged favourite Renjith Maheshwary to the gold medal in triple jump on  the second day of the 47th Senior National inter-state athletics championships at the Tope stadium in Bhopal on Tuesday.
Amarjeet leapt to 16.36 metres, while Renjith finished a centimetre behind.
Sinimol Paulose was beaten by R Vijila from Kerala in the women’s 800M. The Kerala girl timed two minutes 06.61 seconds for the gold, while Sinimol bagged silver with a time of 2:06.99 and Tintu Luka (2:09.19), also from Kerala, took bronze.
Kerala’s Arunjith S became the fastest man of the meet after sprinting to victory in 10.76 seconds in the men’s 100M. Jagdish Basak (10.78) of Assam and B G Nagraj (10.79) took silver and bronze.
Karnataka had a bronze medal on the day through G D Gowramma in the women’s 100M.
Babubhai Panocha of Gujarat set a new National mark to win the men’s 20km walk. Panocha clocked one hour 25 minutes and 9.36 seconds to better the mark set by Gurdev Singh in 2000.
Results: Men: 100M: Arunjith S (Ker, 10.76 seconds) 1; Jagdish Basak (Asm, 10.78) 2; B G Nagraj (Jknd, 10.79) 3.  800M: Sajeesh Joseph (Ker, 1:48.93 seconds) 1; R Rajeev (Ker, 1:49.36) 2; Prakash Varma (Del, 1:51.50) 3.
Triple jump: Amarjeet Singh (Jknd, 16.36 metres) 1; Renjith Maheshwary (Ker, 16.35) 2; Saurabh Singh (UP,  15.54) 3.
Hammer throw: Nirbhay Singh (UP, 63.46 metres) 1; Harinder Singh (Pun, 62.06) 2; Yogesh Kumar (Mah, 61.89) 3.
20km walk: Babubhai Panocha (Guj, 1hour 25minutes 09.36seconds) NR, OR: Gurdev Singh, Chennai 2000, 1::25.21, 1; P S Jalan (Ker, 1::27:14.06) 2; Sumendro Singh (MP, 1::30:49.53) 3.
Women: 100M: Poonam Tomar (Del, 11.85 seconds) 1; Ranjita Roy (WB, 12.15) 2; Gowramma G D (Kar, 12.20) 3.
Pole vault: V S Sureka (TN, 3.70 metres) 1; Chetna Solanki (Jknd, 3.60) 2; N Madhusini Devi (Jknd, 3.40) 3. 800M: A Vijila (Ker, 2:06.61 seconds) 1; Sinimol Paulose (Jknd, 2:06.99) 2; Tintu Luka (Ker, 2:09.19).
