Reports of suspected gastroenteritis cases have come from several villages in the taluk. 7 from Annihalli village, one from Kurudumale village and nearly 30 from Nangali, Mushturu and other surrounding villages were indisposed after vomiting and loose motion.

They were all admitted to the Government hospital on Wednesday.

Out of this the condition of one is stated to be very serious and he has been taken to a private hospital in Bangalore.

No sanitation
It is said that due to lack of cleanliness and contaminated water in several villages in the taluk gastroenteritis has struck.

Laboratory tests have confirmed that the tanks in the municipal limits and the water distributed in the rural areas are not fit for drinking.

The samples of water from the tanks had been sent for tests after many were suspected to be suffering from cholera, vomiting and loose motion since the last one month.
