In dramatic developments taken place on Wednesday, the in-charge principal of University College (Hampankatta) has been served suspension order from the Ministry of Higher Education.
However, the principalin-charge is yet to receive the order.
According to sources, Minister for Higher Education D H Shankarmurthy has issued suspension order to the in-charge principal Seetharam Poojary, for “responding arrogantly to some of the queries of the minister”.
Though the development appears to be well connected with the Tuesday’s incident of the principal’s denial for allotting the college auditorium for a talk on ‘1857 freedom struggle’ organised by ABVP and the subsequent protests by Capt Ganesh Karnik, the minister has clarified that there was no connection between the Tuesday’s incident and the suspension order.
Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa, who received instructions from the minister regarding the order, said he is out of station and can take action only after his return.
