KERC had earlier announced that it would announce the tariff revision by mid-September.
The five ESCOMS have sought an increase of 90 paise per unit for all categories of consumers except for Bhagya Jyothi and Kutir Jyothi categories.
KERC Chairman K P Pandey informed Deccan Herald on Wednesday that the tariff revision would most probably be announced by October 15 after considering the final order of the ATE on the petitions filed by five ESCOMS as well as the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL).
Charges
While the ESCOMS have filed petitions before the ATE questioning the reduction of tariff for 2006 by 10 paise per unit, the KPTCL has approached the ATE questioning the July 6, 2007 order of the KERC, reducing the transmission charges recoverable by it from five ESCOMS.
In the July 6 order the KERC had fixed the transmission charges at Rs 17.48 paise per unit for the financial year 2008, Rs 14.80 paise per unit for the financial year 2009 and Rs 14.12 paise per unit for the financial year 2010.
This is as against Rs 19.42 paise per unit being charged by the KPTCL at present. The KPTCL had sought for charging Rs 32.64 paise per unit, Rs 33.54 paise per unit and Rs 40.19 paise per unit as transmission charges for the financial years 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively.
Mr Pandey said KERC wanted to announce its decision on the tariff revision as decided earlier. “But we have received a direction from the ATE to wait till it passes a final order on the petitions pending before it. So, taking the decision of the ATE and also based on the ERC filed by the ESCOMS, we will appropriately revise the tariff”, he stated.
