Daughter murders mother over affair
Mysore, DHNS

In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl allegedly murdered her mother for objecting to her love affair at K N Pura, near here, on Wednesday.

Vidyashri, a 10th standard student, smothered Sujata (40) to death with a pillow at around 5 am. Guru (17), Vidyashri’s boyfriend, was also present . Later, the girl told neighbours around 8 am that her mother was not waking up.

Neighbours, who rushed there, grew suspicious when Vidya started insisting on completing the last rites early as they had no relatives. The neighbours, who had seen Sujata’s relatives from Pandavapura, started questioning her. Upon persistent questioning, Vidya confessed to the crime. The duo are in police custody now.

Sujata, who had lost her husband eight years ago, had reprimanded Vidya for having an affair with Guru, working in petty shops. Guru had befriended Vidya when he worked at a departmental store near the KSRTC bus stand, where Sujata also worked.
