The picture of the forthcoming local body elections is changing everyday. Though the city areas are untouched by the election fever, the candidates of the political parties are experiencing the same in all its shades.
In the district, Tumkur, Sira and Tiptur are considered as CMCs, while the remaining are considered as town municipal councils and panchayats. However, greater attention is now being focussed on Tumkur council, as it is the district centre and is nearer to Bangalore. Thus, the administration wing and the general public have always been keen on Tumkur local administration.
There are 35 wards in Tumkur council. Moreover, on a superficial level it can be known that there seems to be a competition amongst the Congress, BJP and the JD(S). However, this picture could change in the coming four to five days.
Moreover, these three parties have announced their official candidates in the newspapers. Also, all the three parties have proclaimed that they would work towards the comprehensive development of the city, if elected to the power.
