MLA to complain on principals suspension
DH News Service,Mangalore:

Ullal MLA U T Khader has said that the incident of suspending University College in charge Principal for not having granted permission for ABVP to hold its programme in the college premises is condemnable and rightly a complaint will be given to the Governor, urging him to take stern action against Minister for Higher Education D H Shankarmurthy and MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik.

A protest was staged by the University College faculty and students against the order of suspension issued against the in charge Principal on Thursday at the College premises. Addressing the reporters here, Mr Khader said that Capt Karnik has violated the academic rules by barging into the College premises coercively and using unconstitutional words at the in charge principal.

“D H Shankarmurthy and Capt Karnik did not respond to the Rs 2 crore project of the College for its academic activities. He had come here with politically motivated programme to instigate communal feelings.
A principal-in charge is being penalised for stopping one such programmes,” he added.

Earlier Congress leaders such as M G Hegde, Kallige Tharanath Shetty Ivan D’Souza and others in a news conference demanded that both DH Shankarmurthy and Capt Ganesh Karnik must resign from their posts.
M G Hegde said that a Minister does not have the power to issue suspension order on a principal-in charge as this decision has to be taken at the Syndicate meeting of Mangalore University.

NSUI declared all support to the struggle that the teaching faculty will stage in this regard and has also said that it will stage protest if no justice is rendered in this case.
