'Salman not a muslim after idol worship'
From Puja Awasthi, DH News Service, Lucknow:

Salman Khan’s prayers for peace and prosperity to Lord Ganesha might have put him in danger of losing his religion. Or so, a Bareilley based organisation Darul-Ifta-Manzar-e-Islam would have you believe. The organisation has issued a fatwa declaring that Khan can no longer be considered a Muslim for he indulged in idol worship.

Fatwa issued
Mufti Fakir Qadri Mohammad Farukh Gafrutula had issued the fatwa earlier this week quoting the Quran’s prohibition of idol worship.

Khan, with his family had brought home a Ganesh idol for one and a half days. Television cameras caught him dancing with brother Arbaz’s son  perched on his shoulders and step-mother Helen matching steps as the family immersed the  idol near the Khan residence in Bandra.

The Bollywood star had also paid obeisance to Ganesha at the Raja Ganpati Mandal, one of the most popular destinations for Ganesha worshippers in Mumbai. He was quoted as saying “This is something we believe in. The energy has been amazing.”

The fatwa issuing organisation has said that the actor having violated one of the most basic tenets of Islam cannot be considered a Muslim till he re-read the kalmas and reassert his faith in Islam’s guiding principles.
