As a part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Indian Air Force, singer Kavitha Krishnamurthy and her troupe performed at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Saturday.
Her voice as rich as the red and gold saree she was draped in, weaved magic over the airmen and other dignitaries present during the evening.
The Grand Musical Evening, organised by the Training Command was inaugurated by Air Marshal GS Chaudhry, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, IAF.
Patriotic flavour
The audience was treated to a variety of songs from Hindi films. To strike a chord with the defence personnel, there was the patriotic ‘Yeh Mera India’ from Pardes.
For those who love the classics, she sang a medley of melodies from the yesteryear ranging from Kishore Kumar to Mohammed Rafi.
The audience enjoyed songs of young love like ‘Aaj mein Upar’ from the film Khamoshi and the romantic ‘Pyar Hua Chup Ke Se’ from 1942 A Love Story.
The singer enthralled her audience with some peppy numbers like ‘Hawa Hawai’ from Mr India and ‘Nimbuda’ from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
A member of her troupe Sairam, who performed a duet, impersonating her voice, had the audience in splits, especially imitating Aishwarya’s moves along with another playback singer Sujro Bhattacharya.
