TUMKUR DISTRICT ROUND-UP

Prof Sonde to visit CIT

Tumkur, dhns:   Goa University’s retired Vice-Chancellor and Bharatiya Vighnana Mandir’s retired Professor B S Sonde will deliver a lecture in Channa Basaveshwara Engineering College (CIT) at Gubbi on September 3.

First semester BE classes will be inaugurated on the occasion. CIT President, former MP G S Basavaraju will preside. Jyoti Ganesh and others will be present on the occasion, said Director of the College Dr D S Suresh Kumar.

Treatment for cleft lip

Tumkur, dhns:  Round Table of Tumkur is organising a cleft lip camp in Tumkur on Sunday. Dr Sunil Richardson and his team will be conducting the camp. They will do a free check-up and provide treatment.

The camp will be held at Raghava Poly Clinic, opposite to the Government Hospital on B H Road. The public are requested to take part in this camp. For details, contact:  98453 54178, a release has stated.

Rudrabhishekha in Turuvekere

Dandinashivar (Turuvekere), dhns:  Rudrabhishekha and Rudrahavana pooja ceremonies will be held for diety Adihanumanthaswamy at Raghudevanahalli village in Dandinashivar hobli of Turuvekere taluk.

The ceremonies will be held on Sept 3. Hundreds of devotees are expected to take part in the event and various religious leaders will also be present.

Pontiff Guruparadeshikendra Swamiji of Keregodi Rangapura Mutt, Pontiff of Godekere Siddarameshwara Swamiji, Dr Abhinava Mallikarjuna Swamiji and several others will be taking part in the programme, according to a press release issued by the Mutt authorities here on Saturday.

BJP meeting held

Tiptur, dhns:  The new executive committee of the BJP took place here recently, under the chairmanship of Taluk BJP President M N Kantharaju. The following members have been elected as the members of the newly created executive committee.

M P Prasanna Kumar has been elected as the president, Patel Yatheesh, Sharanappa, Manjunath, Halepalya, Ramanna and T S Gururaj, Guru Sirigandha, Vasu, Babu, Saraswathi Channappa, Shankarappa, Maranagere, Gangaraju and  Annapu have been elected as the vice-presidents.

While, the following members have been elected as the office-bearers of the Corporation Executive Board. Jagadeesh, Bandihalli, Dayanandaswamy, Venkatesh, Ramanna, Chandranna, Shankarappa, Somashekhar, Basavaraju, Khara Raju, Somanna, Halepalya, Shivananjayya, Ippe Topu, Prakash, Kumar have been elected as the office-bearers.

Workshop for farmers

Chikkanayakanahalli, dhns:  Cauvery Kalpataru Rural Bank of Kandikere had organised a workshop for the farmers, to explain about the new agricultrual crop pattern in paddy cultivation. The workshop was held at Bairalinganapalya in Kandikere hobli and was inaugurated by the Manager of the Bank R M Kumaraswamy.

He said, popularly called as the ‘Shri’ system of paddy cultivation, this method promised less utilisation of water and more production. One acre of land required about 5 kgs of paddy seeds and also, less water, for more production of paddy. This system was useful the farmers, he added.

It was unfortunate to note that though the farmers were informed and trained on this new system, at the Raitha Samparka Kendras, they were yet to accept and follow it, the manager added. Gram Panchayat member Parvathamma presided over the workshop.

She expressed her pleasure over the Bank’s effort in creating awareness among the farmers. Farmer Udaykumar, who has implemented this system, shared his experiences. Members of the Sthree Shakti Sangha, Self Help Groups, Sujal Water Shed members and rural members took part.
