The two-day World Kannada Cultural Convention-2007 will be jointly organised under the aegis of Kuwait Kannada Koota, Kuwait and Hrudayavahini newspaper at Kuwait on November 30 and December 1, informed Convention Organising Committee Vice-President Sudhakar Shetty.

Speaking at a press meet organised on Thursday, he said the committee unanimously selected Rashtrakavi G S Shivarudrappa as the president of the convention. There are over 6 lakh Indians in Kuwait, out of whom 35,000 are Kannadigas.

Over 5,000 to 6,000 Kannadigas are expected to participate in the convention while over 100 people are expected to participate from India. There are Kannadigas with various local languages like Konkani and Tulu as their mother tongue. However, the convention intends to unite them under one banner, he added.

Samskritika Samiti President K P Manjunath Sagar, advisory committee directors B B Shivanna and Ganesh Rao were present at the press meet.
