The State Human Rights Commission is likely to ask the State government for a report on the recent incident in which a Chennai-bound bus was torched near Bommanhalli on Hosur Road and two people were killed.
At a press conference in Bangalore on Friday, the Commission Chairman Justice S R Nayak told the reporters that the Commission will seek a report from the Home Department on whether there was a lapse on the part of the police department in the incident.
“In the event of a lapse, we will ask the government to take action against them and make them pay compensation to the victims’ families,” said Justice Nayak. “Prima facie there’s evidence of police lapse leading to gross human rights violations,” said the SHRC Chairman.
