'Vote for right candidate'
DH News Service, Kushalnagar:
"In the local town panchayat elections, Citizens must vote for the right candidate who will make sincere efforts for the comprehensive development of the town", senior citizens and leaders of various associations said at a discussion.

In the local town panchayat elections, citizens must vote for the right candidate who will make sincere efforts for the comprehensive development of the town and has a vision.

This was the view expressed by senior citizens and leaders of various associations at the discussion organised under the aegis of Kushalnagar Working Journalists’ Union and Information Centre.

Kushalnagar town, which is growing at a fast rate in the district, lacks basic amenities. In order to solve these problems, a candidate who is ready to render service to people must be identified by the citizens.

A request was made to the voters that they must never fall prey to greed of liquor or money at any cost. There are various problems plaguing the town including safe drinking water, arrangements for providing a private bus stand, development of roads and laying underground drains.

The elected representative must ensure one-way traffic facility on I B Road and Town Colony Road, provide a permanent blueprint for development of layouts which are at present being developed in a haphazard manner and necessary facilities must be provided here, suggested senior citizen B P Appanna, advocate Nagendrababu and Janaspandana Vedike Co-ordinator K S Mahesh.

Senior citizen V N Vasanthkumar said there are new faces contesting elections this time. A sincere and honest person must be elected for the development of the town. Only when the elected people’s representative can be contacted easily by  the common man, efficient administration can be ensured.

Zilla Panchayat former president K P Chandrakala said the administration will be smooth if a single party gets majority. The candidates who wins must undergo training to serve the people.

Sangha president B R Narayan said the programme has been organised to guide people to elect a candidate who is pro-development. Lecturer Sabalam Bhojanna Reddy said the elected candidate must put a check on corruption and must make efforts to get enough grants from the government.

Entrepreneur Raveendra Rai said the town faces enough problems and the people’s representatives must have the will to solve these issues.

The capability of the candidate is more important than the party to which candidate belongs to, he added. Local Entrepreneurs’ Association President K S Rajashekhar said everyone must strive to realise the vision which Chief Minister D R Gundurao had for the town.
