Sericulture Minister Sogadu Shivanna has expressed confidence that in the forthcoming CMC polls Congress is the main rival but BJP is going to romp home and come to power.
He was addressing a press conference here on Saturday and said the coalition government was all for the development of the city. In the light of this including a special package of Rs 54 crore, nearly Rs 200 crore grant has been announced for Tumkur, he added.
In order to provide various basic amenities under the special package scheme tenders have been called for. The BJP is committed for the all round development of the city. But the political rivals are talking all kinds of things, he said.
Without naming anybody, Shivanna asked the opposition Congress to understand the situation before criticising them. In a veiled reference to the leaders, he said unlike them his party was not making false promises but would deliver.
The railway over bridge between Upparahalli-Shettahalli which has been a dream of the people for a long time will shortly become a reality as Rs 1.31 crore has been kept aside for acquiring land and other processes, he said.
Shivanna declared that the main aim of the party was to give a clean governance by providing all basic facilities which the people have been deprived of for a long time.
In Tumkur BJP is contesting in 30 wards and in ward 13 it is supporting an independent candiate. In ward number 9 and 20 it is extending its support to JD (S) candidates, he said.
Leaders Nandish, Byatarangegowda, Rameshachara, Boregowda, T S Niranjan and others were present at the press conference.
