Close call for air passengers
Passengers of a Jet Airways plane had a narrow escape, when it skidded off the runway at Srinagar Airport on Sunday afternoon, UNI reports from Srinagar.

Official sources said all the passengers were taken out of the plane safely. It was not immediately known why the plane skidded off the runway.

Three-fold rise in ragging
There has been an over three-fold increase in the figures of ragging cases reported from across the country in the last four months, compared with the same period last year, PTI reports from New Delhi. There were 52 incidents of ragging reported in the media between May 21 to September 21.

First fibre glass classroom
The country’s first fibre glass classroom is coming up in Dhanushkodi under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan scheme at a cost of Rs 5 lakh, PTI reports from Madurai. The government decided to set up a school with a fibreglass classroom, as concrete buildings are not allowed in the area, which is close to the sea.
