The High Court on Monday stayed the fresh elections for the posts of president and vice-president of Mirle Gram Panchayat, KR Nagar taluk, Mysore district, that were scheduled to be held on Sept 25.

This followed a petition by Gram Panchayat’s present Upadhyaksha, Ramaraju M, challenging the validity of the notice issued on Sept 23, scheduling the elections on Sept 25. The petitioner has contended the notice to be invalid on the ground that it violated the statutory requirement of 7 clear days’ notice.

Aggund GP : Presidential elections stayed

The High Court on Monday stayed the elections for the posts of president and vice-president of Aggund Gram Panchayat, Arasikere taluk, Hassan district, which were scheduled to be held on Sept 25, 2007.

This followed a petition by a GP member Kariyamma, challenging the validity of the meeting scheduled for holding the elections on September 25.
