'Congress to change city's skyline'
DH News Service, Tumkur:

The Congress party has decided to concentrate on the all round development and change the skyline of the city. The people should bless the Congress party this time in the local body elections, urged election observer and legislator V Somanna.

He was speaking after releasing the election manifesto of the party and said Tumkur has remained extremely backward. It is surprising that it is so backward in spite of its proximity to Bangalore. Now there is no point in doing any post mortem. The only thinking in the Congress is how to take forward the city.

With the city suffering from lack of basic amenities it needs a new shape and a direction. This is our only aim, he said.

“I do accept that even Congress members role is there in the city remaining backward. Everyone is at fault and hence it is better to look forward than to look back,” he said. He assured the people that if Congress was voted back to power, then within six months an all round development would be seen which would be equal to the development in the next twenty to thirty years.

When the issue of a few of the Congress workers themselves had encroached upon various land, he said, “It is immaterial who has encroached. The party would not tolerate it. If it comes to our notice then suitable action will be taken if our party comes to power.” He also expressed dissatisfaction with the way the ward wise reservation was done.
